Meet Xaylen Asher Richard, a 19-month-old giant baby from Dallas, Texas, who is breaking growth records and charming everyone around him. Xaylen’s size is quite remarkable, as he is currently over the 100th percentile for his age, matching the size of his four-year-old brother, Judah. This size similarity has given the siblings the delightful advantage of sharing clothes.
Xaylen’s mother, Salitza Richard, a dedicated athlete trainer, initially worried about her son’s rapid growth. At just six months old, Xaylen was already fitting into 12-18 month clothes, raising concerns about his health. It seemed that Xaylen’s impressive growth might have even delayed his walking, but Salitza jokes about the silver lining—it’s provided her with much bigger biceps from carrying him around.
Despite his large size, Xaylen was surprisingly only eight pounds when he was born. But this tiny start did not deter his astonishing growth rate. Even at his two-week checkup, the doctor was amazed by his size, asking if they were sure they had the right baby, given how much older he appeared for his age. Fortunately, the doctor reassured Salitza that Xaylen’s health was perfect.
With Xaylen’s size drawing attention, he’s already being scouted by football teams at just 19 months old. Salitza is convinced that her son will be remarkably tall when he grows up, given his current growth trajectory.
Salitza also has an older son, Judah, who is the complete opposite in terms of growth. Judah has always been in the lower percentile for his age, creating an interesting contrast between the siblings.
Salitza is constantly astonished by the speed of Xaylen’s growth. Clothes that once belonged to Judah are now being worn by Xaylen, and she frequently needs to find larger sizes to keep up with her little giant’s growth spurts.
