In May, 2018 a gigantic, hairy beast showed up on a shore in the Philippines. The locals who found this massive creature named the 20-feet long carcass “The globster”. As you would expect from the rotting dead body of a huge sea animal, the disgusting smell was quite staggering. Scientists later revealed that this huge blob was the remains of a dead whale, and that the hair-like strands covering it were its decomposing muscle fibers. We sure are glad we weren’t strolling on the beach when this showed up!

This was the super rare Hoodwinker sunfish and it usually prefers the more temperate waters of Chile or New Zealand. Scientists were baffled as to how this made it so far from its home waters. This fish was around 7 feet long and weighed over a thousand kilograms! Fun Fact: This fish was named The Hoodwinker Sunfish after its discovery due to the fact that it had eluded researchers for many, many years!

In 2017, an enormous and terrifying sea creature showed up on a beach in Indonesia. This beast was 50-feet-long and initially, locals thought it was a giant squid.
Later, it was discovered that it was a baleen whale! Because of decomposition, it was bloated into a very un-whale like shape and the scent was as horrible as you’d imagine. Blood seeping from the dead animal eventually turned the waters surrounding it into a bright red, but this did not stop locals from taking pictures with it.
Dead whales usually sink to the bottom of the ocean and no one quite knows why this one showed up on a beach. Some theorized that this whale had a bacterial infection that produced more gasses while others claimed that it had died in warm waters which allowed bacteria to accumulate and gasses to expand its body. It may also have been murdered after being clipped by some ship!

So when one of these creatures was found dead on the sunny shores of California, people were super shocked! This jet-black fish has a football-shaped body and teeth that resemble tiny shards of glass. It also possesses a bioluminescent stalk on top of its head which it uses to lure prey through the darkness and into its jaws! Scientists are still figuring out how and why this spooky fella washed up on a beach in California of all places.
